We went to Kota Kinabalu last weekend. It is only an hour flight north of Miri located in the state of Sabah.

We stayed at the Nexus Resort which was a 40 minute drive from town but was located on a beautiful stretch of white beach with crystal blue water.

There was so much to do in KK but we decided to hold off on most of it until Syd gets a little bit older. Things like going to visit these beautiful islands, hiking Mount Kinabalu and hiking the rain forest. We decided to go to 1 Borneo which was hyped as "THE" newest shopping extravaganza. Our hopes for some simple items like shorts & an activity center for Syd were crushed once we got there & learned it was nothing more than a maze of boutique style shops filled with a few of this and a few of that - bummer!

We also learned that traveling with a 4 month old is very different than traveling with a 6 week old! She cried the entire flight there, poor baby. Luckily we thought to swaddle her & I got her to sleep before the flight home & she was an angel. Also, a full resort with many restaurants, etc. is lost on her. :) She was much more interested in the pool than the ocean. And by the time she was done swimming she was ready to sleep for hours so we would just order room service.

Great trip but lesson learned. Next time get the cheap hotel with the pool & room service. :)

Sydney is 4 months old - already!

Well I just checked my friend Anna's blog & feel guilty about not updating mine! She has triplets & updates hers a few times a week. Oops!

Here are some new photos of Sydney. She is doing great, babbling, cooing, grabbing her feet, putting her hands in her mouth all the time & being a great baby. She is just so happy most of the time. We are really lucky parents!

We are taking her to the beach tomorrow in Kota Kinabalu. We tried this trip earlier in the week but were denied boarding the plane because we didn't have a Visa in Syd's passport. Who knew she needed a Visa? Grrr! We had to walk away as our plane was boarding. We were really upset & had to pull our luggage from the plane. Nothing like unpacking from a trip you never went on. Such a bummer! So happy we got her Visa done in time for a re-do & were able to reschedule the trip for this weekend (another holiday weekend here thank goodness). Just don't ask me how much we blew on the airfare & hotel that was non-refundable from the first trip.

Sydney is 14 weeks!

She is officially 3 1/2 months old & 12 pounds of happy baby girl.

Everyone thinks she is a boy but I refuse to put bows on her perfect little head. I don't think she has gender issues at this age so why should I?

She is so much fun, cooing & smiling & "talking" us up every chance she gets. We are taking her swimming for the first time tomorrow - can't wait to see her face! I need to figure out how to upload my video camera clips so I can post them here. I will for sure get one of her first swim.
